New Jubilee Video Titled “1 Ukrainian President vs 20 Russian Oligarchs” Has Us Questioning If Peace Will Ever be Achieved
Jubilee Media, famed purveyor of debate videos that leave you disagreeing with opposing viewpoints more than before you watched, has just released their most ambitious video yet.
If you have never seen a video on the Jubilee Youtube channel, you may not be aware of the type of content the channel churns out. Known for series such as, “Surrounded” or “Middle-Ground” you may be questioning: am I about to watch a hostage situation come to a peaceful, swift resolution that leaves me impressed by the negotiation skills of both law enforcement and the hostage producer? No, nothing about these videos is peaceful and they never meet a resolution, regardless of what the series titles suggest. You will come away angry, flustered, and impressed that society has made it as far as it has. The videos they produce are quite literally the furthest thing from a successful hostage negotiation.
Which brings us to the latest video in their series “Surrounded”. Although not a hostage situation, it sure felt like it could turn into one at any moment. Titled: “1 Ukrainian President vs 20 Russian Oligarchs” this video takes us through what it must feel like to go to an intervention hosted by your worst enemies while they smoke crack in front of you, the person that thought LSD would burn your skin down to the bone if it got on you, because it is called acid. In the video President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sits in the middle of a circle of 20 Russian Oligarchs stating why he thinks Russia should end the war in Ukraine. The oligarchs are given 20 minutes to dispute each claim, one by one they race to the chair across Zelenskyy and debate him, only stopped by the timer or when enough of their comrades decide that the conversation is going nowhere and the next state funded billionaire shall replace him. Most of Zelenskyy’s topics of conversation concentrated on how the war has affected his country and how many lives have been lost because of it. The oligarchs proceeded to use the opportunity to fuel their propaganda machine, leaving many questioning whether Jubilee should give a platform to heinous war criminals.
The video left us in the same place we started, supporting Ukraine and wanting an end to the war with punishments imposed on Russia for starting this meaningless conflict in the first place. Also is Jubilee wanting us to support Russia?
